January Jottings

As you can see from the photo above, Spixworth is decidedly chilly at the moment but nowhere near as cold as poor old Chicago.  It looks beautiful but can be so deadly.  Thankfully Spixworth isn't even close to that.

I'm currently having fun meeting new people on a site called MyLot.  It's not a site for people wanting to make a load of money from writing but it's a great way to make friends and share everyday events with them.

I've made several fans from publishing animal stories, amongst which are Billy the Bullock, Phil the Pheasant and my beautiful baby boy Ollie, my rescue cat.

I must admit though, that the thing that cheesed me off most this week was the fact that I ordered fruit teacakes from my supermarket which I love toasted but, as they were out of those, they sent me Hot Cross Buns.  As you'll see from the link, I have a major issue with this.

I love a good ghost story and, if you enjoy being spooked the story of The White Lady which I published on MyLot might be worth a look.

Today, as the weather's been icy and foggy all day I've been catching up with Criminal Minds.  I have the box set on Sky Satellite TV but they're going to disappear at the end of April so I've got 13 series to get through.  I'm now halfway through series 7 but it's going to be touch and go as to whether or not I get to the end.

I did stop my Criminal Minds fest briefly this afternoon to get a cup of tea and noticed the ground feeding birds - rooks, doves, magpies, blackbirds, robins etc - had run out of cornflakes.  I buy a big box of the 'bargain basement' supermarket ones but thankfully they can't tell they're not Kellogg's!  I decided to get out there and put another load down so they had a decent meal before it got too dark and before the temperature dropped.

I got to the bottom of the garden and the meadow beyond looked absolutely stunning (as you'll see from the photo below) and I just couldn't resist grabbing my camera.

Well, I'm now off to make my veggie chilli and stick a baked potato in the oven.  I need something hot and spicy in this weather.

Hope there's something here that'll float your boat!!
